Five Fun Outdoor Winter Activities for Children

February 9, 2012 By Leave a Comment

When it’s cold and snowy outside, why not embrace it? Just throw on a hat and mittens and get outside! Here are some great outdoor activities from Family Fun that will help your family enjoy the season.

Organize a sled-pulling competition. Instead of using sled dogs, humans pull the dogs in sleds. Of course, your dog may not dutifully stay on the sled, and that’s where the fun begins!

A snow treasure hunt is a clever way to encourage children to problem-solve and get fresh air.

If you build your own ice sculptures, you’ll be wishing for cold weather so they don’t melt.

Use natural materials to make an original mosaic in snow.

A large bull’s eye “painted” in the snow with food coloring is the basis of a fun snowball-throwing contest.

Don’t forget the sunglasses when your children head outside. Children’s sensitive eyes need sun protection during the summer and winter.
